About Severance High School

Severance High School was opened in the Fall of 2019. And is part of the Weld RE-4 School District.

Severance High School (SHS) is a comprehensive high school that provides a wide range of instruction and activities that simultaneously allow students to gain in-demand workforce skills and prepare for college. We offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses, as well as specific industry certifications, integrating academic skills into a “real world” context that engages students while enhancing their core academic skills.

Our purpose is to amplify human potential. All students at SHS learn, grow, and improve each day through inspiring learning opportunities, collaboration, personal empowerment, and leadership-building experiences in and beyond school. Each student cements a strong foundation of academic knowledge while also exploring various careers and interests, such as agriculture, business, communications and media, construction management, computer programming, family and consumer science, industrial design and technology, information technology, and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

We offer a variety of competitive options for male and female athletes alike who represent our community and the “home team” on the field or court. Through their participation, they not only enjoy the benefits of physical fitness, but they also learn about hard work, respect, and good sportsmanship.

We’re deeply invested in supporting activities that engage students’ passions and interests beyond the school day, that enrich the high school experience and student’s lives, and that provides opportunities for families to engage with the high school and positively participate in their children’s education. At SHS, we are committed to cultivating relationships and a culture of caring in which all people feel valued.
